this is the easter egg hunt hosted by us for the first time ever! i finally feel like finishing this up now in July...

To begin with, here in Japan, people hardly know about Easter.

I was born and raised in Church, and I remember painting eggs on Easter Sundays. However, I didn't learn about Easter Egg Hunt until I had my own baby in Hawaii. So, since majority of people in Japan are not even Christians, no wonder people have never heard about Easter Egg Hunt...

Being in Japan, I still missed Easter Egg Hunt. Since nobody else would host easter egg hunt, I decided to host one this year! I knew my kids would like it too.

But, I wasn't able to find plastic easter eggs at any shop in Japan. No, not one! workers in toy shops, whom I asked where the easter eggs would be at, gave me a funny look like, "what are you talking about?" Anyway, so I ended up buying them online and had them ship here from the US. We figured that it would be cheaper than buying from the import shops in Japan.

Also, I decided to invite some of our neighbors and friends for our easter egg hunt. Obviously I had to explain to them what it was like from A to Z. Even though any of my neighbors and friends didn't know about it, all of them thought it would be fun for them and their kids!

Since I wasn't sure if I could scatter all the plastic eggs in a public place even in the playground nearby, I decided to do it inside of my house.

When I first invited all the kids inside of the house, they were scared and didn't wanna go in. But then, the moment they saw all the colorful eggs, they all got excited and started to pick them up. They learned what they were supposed to do very quickly!

they were also happy about finding special eggs with stickers so they could win prizes.

Of course, my kids had great fun as much as their friends did.

I think our first easter egg hunt in Japan was a success. Hope I can host it again next year... it will be a nice opportunity to talk about Jesus Christ and my Church too...

初めて自分たちでイースターエッグハントを企画しました～！

これをアップするまでにめちゃめちゃ時が経ってしまいすみませんっ　

ハワイやテキサスにいる間はもちろん誰かが企画してくれたやつにのほほんと参加していた私たちでしたが・・・日本に帰ってきて、イースターエッグハントに行きたいけど、誰も企画してくれる人がいないことに気が付き・・・じゃあ自分たちでお友達誘ってやってみよ！と思いました。

イースター、ましてやイースターエッグハントは日本ではあんまりメジャーなイベントではないけれど、こんなに子どもたちが楽しめるんだから、やらなきゃもったいない！と思いました。

ちなみに、イースターとはイエス・キリストが復活したことをお祝いする日

卵から雛が孵る様子が、イエスさまが墓から出てきて復活したことに象徴されるのだとか。（まいぐりママからの情報）

アメリカでは、クリスマスに次ぐくらいの子供たちのビッグイベントであるみたいです。

とにかく、不慣れながらもイースターエッグハントをしようと思い立ったはよいが、いつもアメリカでイースターの時期にはそこらへんでやっすく売っていた、プラスチックの卵がどこにも売っていない!!

Tいざらすとかにあるかな・・・とか思いきやなく・・・

オンラインの輸入ショップなどには売っているのを発見　だが、めちゃくちゃ割高になっているではないか！！

と、いうわけで、いろいろ調べた結果、配達料はかかるが、それを考えてもアメリカから直接買った方がまだ安いという結論に…　しかも、すでにお菓子も入れてくれてるお得なやつを発見したので、それを買って送ってもらいました。

これだけあれば今まで持ってたのと併せて、お友達を呼んでも足りるかな、ぐらいになり…。

無事にイースターエッグハント開催できました。当日には出来なかったけど…。

広い場所でやったほうがよいので、公園でやろうかなとも考えたけど、勝手にやっていいかもよくわからないし、まだ初めてなので、今年はこじんまりと家の中でやることに。

家の中をできるだけ邪魔なものがないようにお片づけし、お母さんたちにも当日の流れを説明したメールも送り…

当日は土曜日で、M(父)も仕事休みだったので、いろいろ卵を隠したり、雑用をしてもらいました。

ぞくぞくと集まってくるお友達。全員そろってから一斉に家の中に入ってもらいたかったため、しばらく玄関で待ってもらっていた子たちも…。

そして、皆さん勢ぞろいし、さぁどうぞ中へ!!という段階になると、なぜか恐れて泣き出す子どもたち　ガーン

今まで待たされていたのに急にぞろぞろと連れて行かれそうになったため、注射でも打たれるんちゃうかと思ったのではないか、とか…。

しか～し！ドアの向こうに色とりどりの卵がたくさん落ちているのを発見し、お母さんたちの促しにより、わぁ～～～！っと一転して喜んで卵を拾い出してくれた　ほっ

うちの子供たちは、過去に何度か経験があるため、なかなかのスピードで卵を拾っていたが、ほかのこどもたちも楽しんでいたみたい。

紅一点のMいぐりちゃんはプリンセスの恰好で来てくれたし↑

HくんJくん、KくんにNくん、Aくん(寝ぼけててKくんがこれなかったのは残念でしたが。。。）も、来てくれてほんとにありがとう！！

また、来年もできたらいいなっと思ってます。できればもうちょっと広いとこで…。
